Character: Steve Release Date: January 13, 2004 Created By Paul Abbott Airs On: Channel 4 in the UK Quick Plot The programme charts the lives of the dysfunctional Gallagher family, comprising the father, Frank Gallagher and his six children: Fiona , Lip (Phillip), Ian, Carl, Debbie and Liam. Other characters featured in earlier series included Fiona's boyfriend Steve, a middle-class car thief (; Kev and Veronica, the Gallagher's neighbours; Kash, the owner of the local shop, and his wife Yvonne; agoraphobic Sheila (absent as from series 4) and her daughter Karen; the policemen Tony and Stan, along with various regular background characters. The cast was expanded for the series 2, with Carol and Marty, Veronica's mother and brother, becoming regular characters after guest roles in the first series. James's Character James McAvoy plays Steve (a car thief), the charming new feller flirting with Fiona Gallagher (Anne-Marie Duff), the older sister reluctantly looking after five brothers and sisters, plus Frank. Steve and Fiona met over a stolen handbag and he wooed her with a washing machine. Steve was also responsible for Frank waking up in France, drugging and driving him to the continent after hitting Ian. Steve brought a voice of reason to the Gallagher household... a voice now sadly lacking since he moved to Amsterdam with Fiona.
